The Finale

Well, this is it people. I’m pretty much done in Nottingham. People keep asking me how I feel, and the only fitting word is ‘weird’ because I’m so happy to go home but so sad to leave Nottingham and the friends I made here. But I know they are always just a Skype call away (we are already accustomed to Skyping with each other from across campus so this really shouldn’t be a problem…)

Let’s see, what have I gotten up to since Thanksgiving. It has all been a blur. I got sick for awhile after Thanksgiving, like with a fever/cold of some sort, that was a bummer, but it was okay because I just stayed in bed and wrote my paper that I needed to do. Since finishing the paper, I have just been relaxing. The funny thing about leaving Nottingham though is that I will not be done with school–my two finals aren’t until January 12 and 19, PLUS I have two papers to write by January 10. Ugh, but I’ll work through it.

I’ve just been trying to spend a bunch of time with my friends these past couple weeks. Lots of hanging out in peoples’ rooms and just talking or watching movies. Our final hurrah will be tomorrow night, we’re going to what is probs my favorite bar in Notts called The Bodega. Then we’ll come back here and hang out until 5 a.m. or so, when my taxi comes to take me to the bus station, where I will take a bus to London, and from there I will take the Tube to Heathrow where I catch my 9 hour direct flight to ATL (daaang!). Hopefully I will be exhausted enough to sleep on the flight!

I don’t know what else to say, I don’t want to get all sappy about leaving yet. I still have nearly 36 hours in Nottingham! But I do want all my Notts friends reading this to know that you have really made this experience the most amazing thing–I couldn’t love Nottingham the way I do without you guys in it! And as for everyone anxiously awaiting my return to America (lol) I can’t wait to see you all! I really appreciate your interest in my coming home, as it makes leaving a lot less depressing, haha.

I wish I had more English-y stuff to say, but hopefully I will have picked up some legit phrases over here that I bring back. Surely I’ve grown to be a more worldly individual? Because I feel like the only British expressions and words I’ve picked up are either inappropriate or… well yeah, mainly just inappropriate. We’ll see though.

Okay I’ve got to end this because it’s time for our s’mores party (that’s right) in a bit and I have to try and not look like a hobo, as usual. I LOVE YOU ENGLAND! Thanks for being so great to me! Oh and shout-out to The Conster and Patty (the rents) for letting me study abroad. Baller parenting, you two, can’t wait to see you both. And everyone else in Murrica!!

Ok. Enough. JOLLY GOOD RUN, CHAPS!

  1. You are very welcome! So happy you had a good time, and just don’t slack off too much on the paper and finals to come! Remember, you just have to “pass.” Love you, and we can’t wait to have you home!
